On June 17, SoundBite Medical Solutions Inc. (SMBS) received the the 2020 National Award for an Engineering Project or Achievement. The award was presented by Engineers Canada, the national organization of the 12 provincial and territorial associations that regulate the practice of engineering in Canada.
National Award for an Engineering Project or Achievement honours a team of engineers or recognizes an outstanding engineering project that has had or will have a significant impact on society, industry or engineering, and recognizes achievements involving Canadian engineers.
As Engineers Canada stated in its press release:
“The innovative SoundBite technology directly addresses the medical problem of chronic total occlusion. This low-cost technology makes it possible to treat previously untreatable patients with only a short hospital stay. The impact of SoundBite technology will be far-reaching, helping to address the serious medical problem of chronic total occlusions and fostering a new wave of medical device entrepreneurs in Canada.”
TransferTech Sherbrooke would like to congratulate SoundBite Medical Solutions for obtaining this great recognition, as well as Professor Martin Brouillette, who is the inventor behind this technology developed at the Université de Sherbrooke!
