Member of the Barreau du Québec, Valérie-Claude has added a certificate in philosophy and a master’s degree in Common Law and Transnational Law to her civil law formation.
Founder and Director of the Clinique Juridique Juripop de l’Estrie, lecturer, entrepreneur and consultant in territory development, Valérie-Claude now puts her expertise and dynamism to the benefit of TransferTech.
Through her rigor and her creativity, she ensures the completeness of the various legal documents while promoting the quality of business relations with the various commercial and institutional partners.
Involved in her community and passionate by business, Valérie-Claude is particularly proud to contribute to the valorization of the technologies from the Université de Sherbrooke.
Generalist having a passion for Management and Project Management, Josianne is a graduate of the Université de Sherbrooke in engineering and MBA co-op program. Over the past 20 years, she has put her skills and knowledge to various sectors of industry (automotive, medical, transportation). Versatile and with a good understanding of operational and strategic issues, she ensures a close connection between business partners and research teams to maximize value in each project.
Patrice has more than 12 years of experience in biotechnology and life science. Holder of a doctorate from the Université de Sherbrooke, he has worked more than six years at Tranzyme Pharma Inc. as Responsible for the development of screening and preclinical validation programs for the compounds of Tranzyme’s R&D portfolio. Since 2012, he is part of the Pharmacology Institute of Sherbrooke (IPS) as Coordinator where he is in charge of scientific animation and scientific support to members by developing networking activities at UdeS and multidisciplinary research projects.
Moreover, Patrice is actively involved in the development of research collaborations and partnerships between IPS research members and various life science companies. Newly recruited at TransferTech, Patrice is in charge of the development of life sciences projects as Valorization Director.
A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from McGill University and the holder of an MBA from Concordia, François has returned to his native Quebec after twenty years working abroad (seventeen years in the US and three years in the UK). Having started his career in Montreal at Nortel, the main focus of his work throughout has been in the project management of new product introduction (NPI); all of his projects having been in high-tech (software, chips, PCBAs, systems). François exhibits a clear passion for science and technology and is delighted to be joining the TransferTech team in view of sharing his experience and know-how in support of the company’s mission!
Soraya Mahiout has been working in the field of technology transfers since January 2010. She has also worked in the technical-commercial field as Technical Director at Novartis Agro Services S.A. – Plant Protection, and as Project Manager for Research and Development at Les Technologies Elcotech Inc.
Soraya holds an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Sciences, a Master’s degree in Advanced Studies from the Université Catholique de Louvain-La-Neuve, and another Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from the Université de Sherbrooke.
Through her professional experience and university-level training, Soraya has developed skills in technology transfers, intellectual property, research and analysis, writing, technological watch, and project management.
France is known for her sense of fairness and her organizational skills in following up the various files assigned to her. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the Université de Sherbrooke as well as a law degree from the École du Barreau du Québec. She has worked in the commercial, banking, and legal fields, and has held various positions at the Université de Sherbrooke. France has been contributing her qualities and knowledge to SOCPRA’s team since its inception.
Jordan, a legal techinician who graduated from the Séminaire de Sherbrooke and a graduate in human sciences, with a profile in international studies at the Cégep de Sherbrooke, is passionate about science and customer service. For these reasons, she has decided to join TransferTech Sherbrooke. Jordan is also a recipient of a scholarship from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Université de Sherbrooke for the excellence of her project at the Sciences Fair. She then became involved as a volunteer for several years for this event. Curious and always eager to learn more, she is extremely efficient. Jordan loves helping others and wants to quickly become a reference person for all the projects she will be involved in.
Holder of a Certificate in Law from the Université de Montréal, Philippe is currently completing his Bachelor’s degree in Law with a Master’s degree in Life Sciences at the Université de Sherbrooke. As part of the cooperative process, he was pleased to join the TransferTech Sherbrooke team in May 2019 as an Intern. In addition to his interest in the legal field, Philippe is also self-employed in the audio-visual and web design fields.
Philippe learns very quickly, is passionate about human contact and stands out for his curiosity and resourcefulness. With his great willingness to help people around him, he will ensure that all the tasks entrusted to him are done with great care.
After successfully completing a bachelor’s degree in law, a masters in biology and the bar exam, it is with great enthusiasm and pleasure that Laura has signed up to continue her work with the team at TransferTech Sherbrooke. Her passion for the world of innovation, coupled with an ever-present implication in the technological field, have lead to a marked interest and dedication to entrepreneurs and start-ups in the region.
Both the multidimensional problem resolution aspect of her work and the personalized strategies involved in working in the intellectual property field give Laura the professional satisfaction for which she strives in all things.
President, IC Cultures Since the early days of his career, Luc E. Morisset, Eng, MScA, has been immersed in the worlds of innovation management and intellectual property. He has been providing advice and assistance to entrepreneurs, researchers, research institutions, and inventors at various stages of the innovation process for nearly 30 years. Author of one of the first French publications for general readership to guide inventors along the tortuous path of getting an idea to the market, he played a role in the creation of Univalor, a company dedicated to the promotion of the Université de Montréal and its affiliated institutions. In addition to teaching innovation management at the École de technologie supérieure (ETS) and working as an instructor in the MBA program of UQAM’s ESG, Mr. Morisset is a certified intellectual property expert (Adriq/RCTi), certified instructor (CPMT), and certified professional coach (ICF Member).

Thomas Martinuzzo joined the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ in September 2016 as Senior Investment Advisor – Innovation. Thomas has worked in the field of innovation since 2006. He held several positions at Gestion Univalor, s.e.c, where he notably led the team of professionals who commercialize physical sciences and engineering inventions from Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, HEC Montréal and affiliated hospital research centres. Mr. Martinuzzo also founded eValorix.com, a web platform that commercializes digital tools arising out of public research. He also served on the board of directors of several start-up companies (Bâton Simulations inc. and Ortho Regenerative Technologies inc.) and is currently a director of Castor Optics Inc.
Corporate Director Mr. Plourde acts as an advisor with regard to innovation and technology transfers, and as a mentor for entrepreneurs in the life sciences and health technologies sector. He has more than 40 years of experience in planning scientific and technological developments, in strategic management consulting involving innovation, as well as in financing innovative projects for biotech SMEs. He is Past-President of the CQVB’s (Centre québécois de valorisation des biotechnologies) Board of Directors and the Fonds Bio-Innovation fund. He previously served as CEO of these two organizations that play a role at the start of the innovation phase, encouraging Quebec SMEs from the bio-industry sector to innovate, first by supporting their efforts in the development of technology transfers, and second by providing seed funding to technology-based biotech companies for the purposes of demonstrating the technical feasibility of their project and validating their business model. Mr. Plourde is an active member of several organizations dedicated to technological and industrial development in Quebec and has served on several boards of emerging technology companies and organizations, in particular, serving as President of the Association québécoise des bio-industries (now BioQuébec) from 1997 to 1998. Mr. Plourde is an economist by training and holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations.

Stéphane Bégin is president and owner of Conceptromec, a firm specialized in the design and manufacturing of automated equipment for the automotive sealing field for more than 25 years. Internationally recognized, Conceptromec stands out from the competition with its production technologies and innovation
Ghyslain Goulet has more than 25 years of experience in strategic coaching with executives of large companies, SMEs and economic development. Renowned for understanding the stakes and the needs of his clients, he has accomplished the mandates of accompanying hundreds of companies during his career.
He began his career in the manufacturing sector before assuming the economic development direction for the Memphrémagog region from 1992 to 2010. During this period he gained extensive experience and skills in planning And the development of industrial parks, strategies for the prospecting of companies, the development of tools for the promotion and positioning of regions and the realization of economic missions abroad. From 2003 to 2005, he assumed the position of President of the Association des professionnels en développement économique du Québec.
In 2010, he founded A + Stratégies, a consulting firm specializing in investment projects for subsidiaries of foreign companies in Quebec. Since then, its interventions have led to the conclusion of more than 250 million foreign investments in Quebec and Canada with major corporations.
In 2016, he accepted new challenges by assuming the position of Vice President of Financial Affairs at the Accelerator of Creation of Technological Enterprises (ACET) of the University of Sherbrooke, an organization with which he assumed the functions of the advisor and coach since 2012. Since 2011, ACET has supported the start-up of more than 60 technology companies. In January 2017, he will assume the position of President and CEO of this organization.
Jean Nicolas Dupéré is currently a partner in a corporate finance consulting firm, Finance Avenue, where he brings his experience of over twenty years as an entrepreneur and as a manager in various business sectors. Over the past few years, he has held positions as Executive Director, Economic Development Advisor and Senior Director of Corporate Finance at the Business Development Bank of Canada.
Jean Nicolas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Université de Sherbrooke and a Certificate in International Business from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Pierre Bernard was partner for more than 30 years in one of the most important certified public accountant firm in Québec. He has developed through those years, an enviable clientele, whether SME and companies of all size (private and public) in manufacturing, technologies and services sectors. He was on the board of directors at the regional and national levels within the firm and also served on the board of directors of a venture capital company. He was mentor for Sherbrooke Innopole program and for the University of Sherbrooke MBA program. He actually serves on the board of directors of cultural charitable organizations.
The mandate to commercialize the inventions of the researchers from the Université de Sherbrooke led TransferTech Sherbrooke to turn to new markets and develop business models that matched the caliber of our inventors’ technologies.
While consolidating its position in the Quebec market, TransferTech does not hesitate to look beyond the borders of our province. Thus, TransferTech intends to be able to get the most out of the commercial sector to promote the technologies of our professors, students and researchers and thereby allow the University of Sherbrooke to increase its reputation across the globe.
