Researchers at the Université de Sherbrooke have discovered a new weapon in tomatoes to fight antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Tomatidine is now being used as a starting point in a major project to develop new antibiotics.
Thanks to the agreement concluded between the AmorChem venture capital fund, the Université de Sherbrooke and TransferTech Sherbrooke, Pr. François Malouin and Pr. Éric Marsault will be able to pursue their research project, which involves 20 student scientists, postdoctoral students, technicians and professionals.
